Time-critical carve-out drives restructuring program at SHW Automotive

The SHW Group stands for intelligent manufacturing in the automotive sector and is experiencing rising demand. To drive this development going forward, the company needed to transform its Powder Metallurgy business segment into a separate legal entity. Carve-out, S/4 migration and cloud move in a single step at BSW Timber

Following the sale of the Building and Supply Solutions division of SCA Wood UK, there was a requirement to carve-out the divested entities and associated data from SCA’s global SAP ECC system into a new dedicated SAP system for BSW on Azure Cloud. Due to the tight timelines associated with the transitional service agreement (TSA), the initial requirement was to provide BSW with a 1:1 carve-out from ECC to ECC followed by a later project to perform a Brownfield upgrade to S/4HANA post-divestment. During the early stages of the project, BSW expressed concerns about having multiple business downtimes and disruptions for the carve-out and Brownfield projects respectively. As a result, and on the recommendation of SNP, the project evolved into a BLUEFIELD™ carve-out to S/4HANA, which enables the carve-out, migration to S/4HANA and move to the cloud all combined in a single project with one set of testing and a single go-live.

Evonik breaks new ground with carve-out from S/4 to S/4

Evonik planned to set up an independent superabsorbents business (plastics capable of absorbing many times their own weight in liquids) to pave the way for a sale. This involved separating the business from the existing SAP S/4HANA system and transferring it to a separate client. The goal was therefore a carve-out from and to SAP S/4HANA: Evonik broke new ground with this project, as it was one of the first SAP S/4HANA carve-outs in the market. Another challenge was that internal IT projects such as release changes and upgrades had to be carried out at the same time.

SNP carves out $4 billion parent system to newly formed Airnov IT system

Airnov was formed when Arsenal Capital Partners rebranded Clariant Healthcare Packaging in 2019. SNP was engaged to perform a carve-out of the $4B parent company SAP system to create a new system for Airnov.  The goal was to reduce change management in the business and the decision was to make an exact copy of the parent system.
