SNP Implements Matrix42 Integration with SAP Solution Manager for Vossloh

Vossloh

Integration of change management processes between SAP Solution Manager and Matrix42

Vossloh decided to extend its ALM (application lifecycle management) processes by introducing a second tool called Matrix42. Both tools needed to play to their individual strengths in order to improve the ALM processes even further. In order to meet these ambitious goals and adhere to the tight schedule, it was decided that SNP should become the implementation partner of choice.

In 2009, Vossloh introduced SAP Solution Manager as a central tool for incident and change management processes. In 2020, thecompany decided to extend its ALM (application lifecycle management) processes by introducing a second tool called Matrix42. Both tools needed to play to their individual strengths in order to improve the ALM processes even further. By following this “best-of-breed” approach, it was decided to move the incident management processes completely to Matrix42, whereas change request management only needed to
be outsourced in part. Requesting and approving changes would move to Matrix42, but the implementation of SAP changes would remain in SAP Solution Manager. The main reason for this decision was to retain the SAP-specific advantages of SAP Solution Manager, such as the integrated transport control management and transport-related checks, like downgrade protection. It quickly
became clear that an interface between the two systems was needed to provide a user-friendly solution and reduce the manual effort to exchange data.

At this point in time, there were only three months left until the planned go-live of Matrix42. Furthermore, there were only limited time and resources available for adjustments in Matrix42. That was why the main part of the interface needed to be implemented in SAP Solution Manager with only minimal adjustments in Matrix42.

The solution

In order to meet these ambitious goals and adhere to the tight schedule, it was decided that SNP should become the implementation partner of choice. SNP has more than 15 years of experience in SAP Solution Manager integration projects. With its software product “SNP ALM Integrator,” SNP offers a proven solution to implement interfaces between SAP Solution Manager and other prominent ALM tools in a short time with predictable costs. This software is the basis of the implemented solution.

The interface on SAP Solution Manager was designed to fetch and process all relevant data via the public REST API which comes with Matrix42, already out of the box. In this way, the whole processing logic was implemented in SAP Solution Manager and the necessary adjustments in Matrix42 were reduced to a minimum.

The Benefits

  • Fully integrated environment allows each IT departments to  use the tool of its choice, including all the application-specific  advantages
  • Automatic synchronization of Matrix42 and SAP Solution Manager eliminates manual effort for data exchange and reduces complexity
  • Integration approach and experience, proven in dozens of project
  • Implementation in the shortest time with known costs
  • Only minor adjustments in Matrix4
