Future-ready: carve-out, conversion to SAP S/4HANA and move to SAP S/4HANA Cloud in one step

At the end of 2020, Creaton announced the merger with Terreal, the French industry leader in roofing products and innovative solutions for building envelopes. Previously, the company belonged to the Etex Group. As a result, Creaton and its six company codes needed to be removed from the Etex system so that they could be set up in a new system. At the same time as this carve-out, the conversion took place from the previous SAP R/3 system to the latest system, SAP S/4HANA. Furthermore, the system had to be built in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition on Microsoft Azure. This meant that three highly complex subprojects needed to be optimally combined with each other and the end-to-end processes adapted to the new environment. In addition, all workstations, i.e. the entire workplace infrastructure, would be moved to the Azure 365 Cloud.

Selective carve-out of six company codes during the year with implementation of SAP S/4HANA as SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition, in one step. Other parts of the project: SNP Shell, introduction of New General Ledger and business partners, and implementation of S/4HANA simplifications.

The Solution & Benefits
Based on an extensive analysis of the existing SAP systems with SNP’s software CrystalBridge®, SNP developed a customized transformation strategy for Creaton. At the same time, the SNP team created an empty shell copy (1:1 transfer of the processes with the necessary adjustments to customizing and code) containing the complete configuration of the SAP system. This copy served as the target system for migration. SNP’s BLUEFIELD™ approach was used for the move to SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition, combining the move to the cloud and the carve-out from the Etex system in a single step. As part of the S/4HANA upgrade, SNP carved out the six relevant company codes from the Etex system, adapted SAP S/4HANA simplifications, transferred the customer’s in- house developments, created business partners and carried out the conversion to the New General Ledger.
