Airbus: SNP BLUEFIELD™ provides turbo thrust for data migration
Airbus Operations GmbHThe Challenge
Airbus Commercial Aircraft currently uses five large local ERP systems with different structures and characteristics. Its mediumterm goal is to centralize the local finance processes on one uniform platform (Central Finance). SNP was tasked with accelerating the data migration to rapidly obtain results that could be evaluated and, leveraging the flexibility of the tool CrystalBridge Transformation with SAP LT and the expertise of SNP specialists, to provide the best possible response to project requirements and changes. The task in the first stage of the project was to adapt the future central system to current general ledger requirements in one step using the BLUEFIELDTM approach and to perform the upgrade to S/4HANA.
Our collaboration with Airbus & the resulting Benefits
The focus was on the universal BLUEFIELDTM approach, which combines transformation projects into a single project plan and implements them in just one go-live step. This enabled us to simultaneously transfer the master data and transaction data along with the complete data history, create business partners, and introduce the New General Ledger including a document split – all during the S/4HANA upgrade. Using a combination of the BLUEFIELDTM approach and SNP tools – including CrystalBridge Transformation – we guaranteed an efficient and traceable data transformation from the existing systems into the new template. The result: a fast and flexible migration using a reliable and reproducible methodology.
- Flexibility and speed thanks to SNP methodology
- Significant reduction of downtime
- Customized transformation steps through the software-based BLUEFIELDTM approach
- Enormous time saving using the combined migration to S/4HANA, including the New GL and business partners
Key Facts
With the help of the SNP transformation approach, we were able to adapt to current process requirements (New General Ledger) and convert our finance system to S/4HANA in one step. This created the basis for developing a uniform, central financial system for Airbus Commercial Aircraft.
