The Kiel Group wanted to perform a minimally invasive upgrade of their ERP system SAP R/3 to the new platform SAP S/4HANA. The entire history had to be migrated, and only necessary adjustments were to be made to the system. Nonetheless, business partners and the New General Ledger (New GL) had to be introduced. Kiel is planning further technical and process optimizations for the time after the S/4HANA project. The time frame was of particular importance: The 1:1 migration of several hundred million data records had to take place within 16 weeks from project start to go-live.

The Solution
First, the empty target system was created with CB Shell (SH), specifically with the component Empty Target System (Et). The conversions to New Asset Accounting and to the New General Ledger (New GL) were of technical necessity. The introduction of the business partners was performed without harmonization.
The migration to SAP S/4HANA, including the entire history, was carried out with the BLUEFIELD™ approach using SNP CrystalBridge® – The Data Transformation Platform. The project was implemented within only 16 weeks. After the go-live with a very short downtime, there was no more need for postprocessing measures.
